A Gap Year of Ministry Involvement and Study
Never in the past has there been so much opportunity for the local church to disciple its young people and for young poeple to stay in their church and home and learn and grow so much. Minsitry Internships is an innovative and easy way for churches to run their own Gap year program and benifit from having enthusiastic young people working and learning in their ministries.
Through us, churches and christian ministries can have interns that receive training of the head through theory study, the heart through mentoring and the hands through practical ministry tasks.
Perfect for a year between high school and further study/work
Internships offer you the benefit of...
* Biblical and Practical learning
* Nationally Recognised Cert IV in Christian Ministry and Theology
* Austudy for elidgable students
* 16 hours a week ministry work in the church/organisation
How it Works
Most places run the internship around 16 hours practical ministry and 16 hours study and 2 hours mentoring on any given week. This equates to a full time course.
An arrangement is made between a church and a young person to create an internship year for them. All the study material is provided by us, this material is studied distance based with the exception of two one week intensive blocks, one in March and the other in August. This material is all mapped to the Cert IV in Christian Ministry and Theology competencies and relevant electives. We negotiate with you how the assements are done.
You determine the ministry involvement in accordance with the needs and resources of the church and the gift mix of the intern. A mentoring relationship is established between th eyoung person and a capable adult to talk through intergartion of ministry, life and study and to set goals and debrief.
Even though the internship is an educational process, most often churches give their interns some remuneration to assist them and for the benefit they recieve therough their work. There are minor fees associated with enrolments and administration that we collect off the churches per intern.
The official training institute is the "CRCA Resource Centre" in parnership with the "Australian College of Ministries," (RTO#90965)

Previous Interns
2009 is the 4th year of Internships and we have enjoyed Interns from every state in Australia. These have served in both churches and Christian Campsites. While the Internship program with set up to resource local churches in discipleship tools an staffing it has been surprising (yet encouraging) to us that many student have gone on to further study and ministry. People who have completed an internship with us are serving as youth pastors and chaplains and some are studying Dip, B Min, B Th and M Div levels.

"So far this is the best thing ever… just the sheer challenge we are being faced with. We are called to a real faith in Christ, not just to have a superficial title like “Christian”. One thing that I learnt is that Jesus absolutely wrecks what you think is your life, and also that God is so faithful to such a faithless people, it is just all about grace!" Jeremy, QLD.
"The Internship has been so awesome, I just love it, I have grown so much from the study and the work and everything, and then now getting the chaplain jobs, God is just doing so much!!!" Macca, WA.
